ChicP Chocolate Hummousse

As odd as chocolate hummousse may sound, it may well be the start of a new health food frenzy. Not convinced? Nor was I until I tried ChicP banana, avocado,  and cacao hummousse.

What is ChicP Hummus?

ChicP is a raw vegetable hummus company that as come up with an ingenious ethical concept to help reduce food waste. They have created a range of alternative dips made from surplus fruits and vegetables that would otherwise be thrown away.

What does it taste like?

ChicP chocolate hummousse has a perfect combination of healthy ingredients. It is not overly sweet, nor is it too chocolatey. The inclusion of banana and a generous serving of avocado gives it a lovely creamy texture and taste that blends nicely with of chickpeas, you would hardly know they were there. Pleasant, palatable and moreish. My only gripe is that while eating it alone I did experience a slight aftertaste. However, mixed into porridge or eaten with crackers I was fine.

Why should I eat ChicP Hummus?

  • Great ethical company
  • Raw, vegan, gluten-free
  • Free from refined sugars and additives
  • Very tasty and satisfying

How do I use it and where to buy it?

ChicP banana, avocado, and cacao hummousse has a very subtle chickpea flavour making it a great addition to porridge, on toast, crackers, dip for crudites and raw fruit. It could even be used as cake frosting.Yum! Available from various stockists including Wholefoods Market UK, As Nature Intended and Selfridges. RRP £2.29.

 Final verdict: 8/10

An interesting combination of ingredients that nicely come together to create an extremely palatable, vegan alternative dip made by an ethical company. I can’t wait to eat my way through the whole range.
